REMEMBERING MARK FAISON (Jan 24, 1934-August 19, 1991)
Mark Faison, born January 24, 1934, in Faison, North
Carolina to the late Matthew and Henrietta Faison, was a graduate of Douglass
High School in Warsaw, NC, where upon graduating obtained his barber license
from Bull City Barber College in Durham, NC on April 1, 1957.
Before serving in the Korean War, he married Katie Lee Hardy
on October 25, 1958, having five children: Willie B. Faison, Suzette Faison,
Juliet F. Miller, Thomas M. Faison, and Jennifer Faison. He worked at Le
Lejeune Marine Corps Base as a barber for over 29 years.
Deacon Faison joined Faison Chapel Missionary Baptist Church
at a young age, where he was ordained as a deacon in the 1960s. (1 Timothy
3:8-13)
Faison loved his church deeply and was always willing to do
whatever he could for the upbuilding of the church. As a member, he served
Faison Chapel in many capacities. He, in fact, was the Sunday School Teacher
for over 20 years. In addition, he attended numerous Ministers and Deacons
Unions, Christian Education Workshops, Sunday School Conventions, Usher Board
Union Meetings, All Men March For Christ Services, and any other church service
to support his church and other churches.
Throughout all of his service, Deacon Mark always said that
it was important to visit other churches because you may need that church to
come and support you. (1 Cor 12:12 - 12:22)
For this reason, Deacon Mark Faison was always trying to
spread the good news of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ (Matt 24:14)
Now he is resting eternally. (John 5:24)
It is our duty as Christians to support one another (Gal
6:2), learn all we can about how the church is to be run, and come together as
one (Rom12:4 - 12:8). We need to finish the work that he has started.
