THE GAME CHANGER-
There wasn't a dry eye in the room last night during the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Especially, when Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier, who suffered a life-altering spinal injury, with assistance of his finacee' Michelle Rodriguez, walked out (hand-and-hand) onto the NFL stage to announce the team's first round pick Va.Tech's safety Tremaine Edmunds.
The emotional moment showed all of those young athletes-just how dangerous the game of football is as well as how one's life and career can be changed with one play and one hit.
Shazier, who is only 25 years old, played at Ohio State, was drafted by the Steelers in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft, 15th overall, and signed a four-year guaranteed $9.5 million contract, with a signing bonus worth $5.23 million.
But, it was during a Monday Night Football game against the Cincinnati Bengals on December 4, which would change Shazier's life forever, when he suffered what appeared to be a severe back injury after a head-on tackle. (Source:E.Graham)
