Billy Porter, who won the 2013 Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical for his role as Lola in Kinky Boots at the 67th Tony Awards, had the entire world debating and discussing his political fashion statement on the Red Carpet during the 91st Academy Awards in Los Angeles, California, when he "defied fashion norms" with his tailor-made tuxedo/slash ballroom gown, which was the custom creation of designer Christian Siriano, along with... his Caucasian "husband."
While Porter's political fashion-statement was applauded by some for its "boldness" and "beauty." Others, however, shook their heads in displeasure and disgust.
According to Vogue Magazine, Porter said his goal was "to be a a walking piece of political art every time he showed up. To challenge expectations.
"What is masculinity? What does that mean? Women show up every day in pants, but the minute a man wears a dress, the seas part., Porter stated.
"I had the courage to push the status quo. I believe men on the red carpet would love to play more. This industry masquerades itself as inclusive, but actors are afraid to play, because if they show up as something outside of the status quo, they might be received as feminine, and, as a result, they won’t get that masculine job, that superhero job. And that’s the truth. I’ve been confronted with that."
Despite, Porter's politics on fashion along with all the brouhaha that surrounded it, the Elders of the Church, who still practice that old-time religion, made it simple and plain by quoting Deuteronomy 22:5: which states: "The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God."
Unfortunately, many feel that the "Word of The Most High" is wrong and Hollywood is correct. However, those old prophets of the past warned us that this day would come when they stated:This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,.. Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good... Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God (2 Timothy 3).
