CONGRATULATIONS!!!! to Oklahoma Sooners QB Kyler Murray, who played the 2015 season at Texas A&M before transferring to Oklahoma, for making history on Saturday when he was named the Sooners' seventh winner of the Heisman Memorial Trophy during a ceremony at New York's PlayStation Theater.

Murray, who was named the AP Player of the Year and the Davey O'Brien Award (nation's top quarterback) on Thursday, leads the nation in total yards (school-record 4,945), points responsi...ble for (306), passing efficiency rating (205.7; FBS record is 198.9), yards per pass attempt (11.9; FBS record is 11.1) and yards per completion (16.8, tied) garnered 517 first-place votes and 2,167 points, and was followed by Alabama's Tua Tagovailoa (1,871 points, 299 first-place votes) and Ohio States QB Dwayne Haskins (873 and 46).

By winning the 2018 version of college football's most prestigious individual honor, Murray vaulted OU to a tie for the lead — with Notre Dame and Ohio State — for the most Heisman Trophies won. With Baker Mayfield earning last year's trophy, OU also became the first school to produce back-to-back Heisman winners who were quarterbacks.

The story of Nehemiah highlights four major sources of discouragement. Lets look at the first of them: Fatigue. The people in Judah said "The strength of the laborers is giving out." Ne 4:10 NIV...

In other words, they'd worked themselves to exhaustion. They were out physically, mentally, and emotionally. Sometimes we make the mistake of thinking that discouragement is strictly a spiritual problem. We say, "Maybe I need to recommit myself to the Most High," when in fact the real problem is we're burned out. We need rest and renewal. Indeed, sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is relax, or go to bed, or take some time off. When do fatigue and discouragement Surface?

Look at verse six: "So we rebuilt the wall until all of it reached half of its height." Do you know when you're most apt to get discouraged? When you're halfway into a project!!

Everybody works hard at first. The Bible says the people, worked wit all their heart. Why? Because of the newness of the project. It was exciting and novel, but after the newness wore off and the work to boring, Life settled into a routine, then a ritual. Be careful: When fatigue walks in, faith walks out! That's why the Psalmist said: He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me besides quiet waters, He stores my soul (Ps 23:2-3 NIV)

Fatigue is one of the biggest causes of discouragement, and it often shows up about midpoint. Its why we leave so many projects unfinished. Bottom line: If you need time off, take it!!

That's way there is a halftime in football. It is time which allows the players to rest and regroup, while the coaching staff tries to make adjustments to their previous strategies made before the game after data is collected on the field.

That's why the midpoint is the most important part of an NFL season. Because, Week number 8 is when the season really starts. Because, it will determine whether you make the playoffs or make a run for the Super Bowl. or not.

Leonard Henry, who was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the 7th round of the 2002 NFL Draft, with a three-year, $933,000 contract, has spent many hours on the football field — for the Clinton Darkhorses as well as the East Carolina Pirates, where he ranks second in career rushing yards with (3,089), which is slightly behind Hall of Fame (RB) Chris Johnson and fourth in career rushing scores (29).

Despite his short-NFL career, however,Henry, who is... the cousin of former Pittsburgh Steeler (RB) Willie Parker, has removed his shoulder pads and found a "higher-calling" in order to spread the "Word of God" in his hometown of Clinton, North Carolina at First Baptist Church, which is located on 900 College Street.

According to the Sampson Independent, "Henry has a new set of “plays,” which has him running with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and scoring “touchdowns” for the Kingdom of Heaven. In 2011, Henry married his wife Brittany and on Christmas Day in 2015, the couple was blessed by the birth of their daughter, Aliza.

As pastor of First Baptist Church, Henry says his objective is to advance the Kingdom of God by preaching and teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Montgomery, a former Duke and NFL wide receiver, landed the head coaching position at ECU after a successful stint as the Blue Devil's offensive coordinator in Durham, NC.
According to ECU, Montgomery, who once was the wide receivers coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers, had two years left on his contract with the Pirates with a base salary of $400,000, which will be paid by the athletic department.

If you're an organized, time-conscious purpose-driven, make it happen kind of person you can get upset with incompetence and low productivity in others. And you can end up speaking words that hurt them and don't bring the result you hope for. In Proverbs chapter 31 here's how the Biblical character Solomon describes a wise woman: " On her tongue is the law of kindness (v.26 NKJV). Speaking ...kindly to and about others was one of this woman's core principles. And when you think about it, there's never any justification for being harsh or unkind in your communication.

Especially, if you are a so called "Christian". Hasn't the Most High been gracious with you? Then extend that same grace to others. The old adage, "Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me," isn't true Harsh words can impact a person for a lifetime. Many so-called "social outcasts" have been victims of verbal abuse at some point in their lives. They have suffered at the hands of parents, teachers, insecure spouses, and other battling their own emotional issues. If you find you're prone to speaking harshly to people, pray for the Most High's help (Higher Consciousness).
Whatever, it takes, including seeking help from a pastor or counselor, do it. The Bible says, "He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city." (Pr 16:32).

In this deceitful American game of power politics, the Negroes (i.e., the race problem, the integration and civil rights issues) are nothing but tools, used by one group of whites called Liberals against another group of whites called Conservatives, either to get into power or to remain in power. Among whites here in America, the political teams are no longer divided into Democrats and Republicans. The whites who are now struggling for control of the American political throne are divided into "liberal" and "conservative" camps. The white liberals from both parties cross party lines to work together toward the same goal, and white conservatives from both parties do likewise.

The white liberal differs from the white conservative only in one way: the liberal is more deceitful than the conservative. The liberal is more hypocritical than the conservative. Both want power, but the white liberal is the one who has perfected the art of posing as the Negro's friend and benefactor; and by winning the friendship, allegiance, and support of the Negro, the white liberal is able to use the Negro as a pawn or tool in this political "football game" that is constantly raging between the white liberals and white conservatives.

Politically the American Negro is nothing but a football and the white liberals control this mentally dead ball through tricks of tokenism: false promises of integration and civil rights. In this profitable game of deceiving and exploiting the political politician of the American Negro, those white liberals have the willing cooperation of the Negro civil rights leaders. These "leaders" sell out our people for just a few crumbs of token recognition and token gains. NOONTIME SUNDAY SCHOOL LESSON

When you're insulted, you can retaliate with a stinging comeback or see it as a growth opportunity. According to the Bible, David said, It is good ….that I have been afflicted, that I might have learn Your statues." (Ps 119:71). Psychologist Dr. Brenda Shoshanna says: "The person who insults us is a teacher....come to help us reduce our ego, develop patience and compassion, practice unconditional forgiveness, and teach us about life and relationship. If you don't perceive an insult as an insult, but as a teaching or a gift, it loses its power to hurt you. On a practical level, if you're insulted, say nothing. Give yourself time. Much harm is created by lashing back, escalating the situation, and saying things you may not mean. Recognize its your ego-that false sense of pride acting up-and don't go along with it."

Paul reached a place where he actually "took pleasure in insults." Most of us aren't quite there yet, but with time and practice it can happen. Speaking of the biblical charcter Judas, one author writes: The Most High sometimes manipulates the actions of our enemies to make them work as friends in order to accomplish His will in our lives. The Most High can bless us through the worst relationships.. ones that are painful or negative. The time, effort, and pain we invest in them aren't wasted because The Most High knows how to make adversity feed destiny into our lives. We can't stop hurts from coming or promise that everyone who sits at our table will be loyal.

But the suffering (we experience ) gives us direction and builds character and in the end we find grace to REEVALUATE our enemies and realize that like Judas, they are friends in disguise. (Source:Word of Today)

At the age of 10 I was sent as a scholarship student to a boarding school for the uber-rich in Massachusetts. I lived among the wealthiest Americans for the next eight years. I listened to their prejudices and saw their cloying sense of entitlement. They insisted they were privileged and wealthy because they were smarter and more talented. They had a sneering disdain for those ranked below them in material and social status, even the merely rich. Most of the uber-rich lacked the capacity for empathy and compassion. They formed elite cliques that hazed, bullied and taunted any nonconformist who defied or did not fit into their self-adulatory universe.

It was impossible to build a friendship with most of the sons of the uber-rich. Friendship for them was defined by “what’s in it for me?” They were surrounded from the moment they came out of the womb by people catering to their desires and needs. They were incapable of reaching out to others in distress—whatever petty whim or problem they had at the moment dominated their universe and took precedence over the suffering of others, even those within their own families. They knew only how to take. They could not give. They were deformed and deeply unhappy people in the grip of an unquenchable narcissism.

It is essential to understand the pathologies of the uber-rich. They have seized total political power. These pathologies inform Donald Trump, his children, the Brett Kavanaughs, and the billionaires who run his administration. The uber-rich cannot see the world from anyone’s perspective but their own. People around them, including the women whom entitled men prey upon, are objects designed to gratify momentary lusts or be manipulated. The uber-rich are almost always amoral. Right. Wrong. Truth. Lies. Justice. Injustice. These concepts are beyond them. Whatever benefits or pleases them is good. What does not must be destroyed.

The pathology of the uber-rich is what permits Trump and his callow son-in-law, Jared Kushner, to conspire with de facto Saudi ruler Mohammed bin Salman, another product of unrestrained entitlement and nepotism, to cover up the murder of the journalist Jamal Khashoggi, whom I worked with in the Middle East. The uber-rich spend their lives protected by their inherited wealth, the power it wields and an army of enablers, including other members of the fraternity of the uber-rich, along with their lawyers and publicists. There are almost never any consequences for their failures, abuses, mistreatment of others and crimes. This is why the Saudi crown prince and Kushner have bonded. They are the homunculi the uber-rich routinely spawn.

The rule of the uber-rich, for this reason, is terrifying. They know no limits. They have never abided by the norms of society and never will. We pay taxes—they don’t. We work hard to get into an elite university or get a job—they don’t. We have to pay for our failures—they don’t. We are prosecuted for our crimes—they are not.

The uber-rich live in an artificial bubble, a land called Richistan, a place of Frankenmansions and private jets, cut off from our reality. Wealth, I saw, not only perpetuates itself but is used to monopolize the new opportunities for wealth creation. Social mobility for the poor and the working class is largely a myth.

The uber-rich practice the ultimate form of affirmative action, catapulting white, male mediocrities like Trump, Kushner and George W. Bush into elite schools that groom the plutocracy for positions of power. The uber-rich are never forced to grow up. They are often infantilized for life, squalling for what they want and almost always getting it. And this makes them very, very dangerous.

NORTH CAROLINA (BASN)-–What’s the No. 1 Religion in America? I know most of you will probably say Christianity?

We are a Christian Nation, right? Wrong.

No, America the No. 1 Religion is not Christianity, Islam, or Judaism?

Sorry Abraham. It’s Football!! Football!!! Yeah, football?

I know you are saying to yourself, that’s sacrilegious. You idiot. You’re going to hell with a Detroit Lions jersey on. I know you think, I’m the Anti-Christ now or maybe HBO’s Bill Maher.

But Football is America’s favorite religion; It’s worshipped on Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday (if you graduated from High School) and Saturday if you went to community college.

Football, in fact, is worshiped by all people regardless of race, color, class or creed. It is discussed in the morning over coffee, debated in the lunchroom at work, talked about at the dinner table at home, and even secretly whispered about during the Sunday sermon at church.

We all have to secretly admit, we do worship athletes like Gods expecting them to give meaning to our “meaningless” lives, expecting them to perform miracles each Sunday and curse them out when they turn-out to be mere mortals like ourselves.

And just like other organized religions that appear on television, we blindly give these players large sums of money in order for them to live like kings in houses larger than castles, drive in Rolls Royces, and wear 8-button suits that make them look like pimps.

But that really doesn’t bother us, because we love them and some of us even adorn our bodies with their names on our backs by purchasing their expensive jerseys and pretend to walk in their shoes (oops).

I’m sorry, we do walk-in their shoes. Hopefully, we are not walking around in O.J.’s shoes. I guess, that’s why they call it FOOT LOCKER (I’m kidding, just keep reading)

Some of us even go so far as to tattoo our favorite athlete’s number on our body, and name our children after them (Chad Ocho Cinco Johnson). Now that’s crazy.

I am sorry to inform you but they are religious extremists in all faiths. Football, as a religion, is no exception so don’t blame the Taliban or Al Qaeda.

Some football fanatics show their devotion to their faith in football by standing shirtless in sub-below zero temperatures with cheese on the top of their heads, yelling hysterically in a wild religious frenzy, while beating their chest, until they pass out in a drunken stupor.

Others, however, hang their favorite athlete’s pictures on their walls and build small alters and shrines to honor them in their homes.

Most of the statues of our athletes turned gods are made of bronze and are placed in the Hall of Fame so future generations can remember them.

Along with these bronze bust dedicated to our beloved ballers, we also find ourselves debating and arguing over past and present players stats like two Southern Baptist preachers debating scripture.

This confusion and conflict over stats usually ends in a fight at the barber shop which is equivalent to the war in the Middle East.

Remember this, before you try to convert somebody, the Washington Redskins will always HATE the Dallas Cowboys and the Dallas Cowboys will always HATE the Washington Redskins.

It is sorta like the Muslims and Christians. Protestant against Catholics.

Sorry Jesus, but they will never be peace in the NFC East!!

Despite the end of the world peaking through the clouds, like all other major religions, there has to be a holy book to inform the people and keep them on the right track. In the faith of football, Sports Illustrated is equivalent to the King James Version of the Bible.

For that reason, most people honestly believe it to be the word of God and the gospel of truth.

But most scholars and skeptics, question its authenticity.

As a result, some scholars agree to disagree that the book is a poor interpretation of sports history, filled with half-truths, myths, misinformation and cleverly written stories by a council of Caucasians writers, who tried to white wash and wipe us out of the lineup. And just like all westernized religions, they made the savior of the sport of football, white aka Brett Favre.

But don’t let that little setback destroy your FAITH in football; we know the truth, because football flows through your blood. Football is in your heart. Besides, your heart does not pump kool-aid.

Don’t deny the feeling. Let the spirit of victory take over your body.

Don’t let them tell you miracles aren’t real. Just ask Super Bowl heroes Santonio Holmes of the Pittsburgh Steelers and David Tyree of the New York Giants!!

Don’t let them tell you NOT to BELIEVE in HAIL MARYS. Just ask Roger Staubach or Doug Flutie.

So don’t lose faith my brothers and sisters, don’t start playing soccer. It’s a false religion just like Arena Football, because a half-truth is an absolute LIE!!! No lie.

So, despite the constant downfalls, fumbles, interceptions, and disappointments, we continue to place our hopes and dreams in football, because FOOTBALL is the answer.

Just like the Pointer Sisters sung so beautifully with Richard Pryor aka Daddy Rich in the cult classic Car Wash, “If you gotta believe in something, why not believe in me?

As a result, we continue to believe in that 47-year-old kicker with no face mask, two bad knees, four divorces, and a drinking problem, will make that last second field goal from 60 yards away, in the snow, barefoot, with a 50 miles per hour wind blowing in his face, which has frozen his mustache.

We still believe the Cleveland Browns are going to win the Super Bowl.

We still believe that our son with absolutely no athletic ability, who loves watching “High School Musical”, will grow up to be the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft.

But remember “anything is possible” in football.

So I suggest you place your unbelieving son in front of the television set and let them watch ESPN or the NFL Network which is equivalent to watching Pat Robeson and the 700 Club until he is programmed and brainwashed into loving football and HATING everything else.

If your son still isn’t convinced that football is the only sport to play, let him watch and listen to sports talk radio and watch an unlimited supply of football movies like Remember the Titans, Any Given Sunday, Gridiron Gang, North Dallas Forty, Rudy and We are Marshall until his soul is restored.

But if this does not work, introduce him to the cult ritual of animal sacrifices which usually is in the form of chopped Bar-B-Q during a tailgating party. Sorry Muslims and Jews, it’s a football tradition.

If he is old enough allow him to sip or guzzle down a cheap beer. Doesn’t the scripture say “EAT, DRINK, AND BE MERRY?” Lighten up, don’t take life so serious. We are talking about football!!

After all of this, if your son is still rejecting the faith of football, christen him in a baptismal ceremony by bathing him in holy water of green Gatorade after a victory.

After he gets drenched in Gatorade, he will be doing a victory dance like Chad Ocho Cinco and thanking Jesus Christ like the Broncos Tim Tebow.

He’ll also be shouting like T.O., yelling and speaking in tongues like Ray Lewis, crying like Tony Romo, and even confessing his sins like Michael Vick.

And, now without a shadow of a doubt, I have proven that Football is America’s No. 1 religion.

Fortunately, Dallas Cowboy owner Jerry Jones already knew this. That’s why he build a $1 billion stadium with a hole in the roof so God could watch his favorite team play on a BIG SCREEN TELEVISION.
